  • Two-person lifting device for a national hive - move hives and/or supers with ease with the Gwenyn Gruffydd hive carrier
  • Constructed from welded box section steel for strength and galvanised finish for longevity. There are no nuts or bolts or screws to worry about. Everything is welded for maximum strength. It it constructed using the same metal and manufactured in the same way heavy plant and trailers are made of.
  • Fabricated and welded by professional welder fabricators. I chose to galvanise the product instead of painting it for the simple reason that its better, stronger and will last much longer. This is built to last and it should be a one-off purchase because it should last your lifetime. I am so confident in this product that I'm giving it a 2 year Guarantee from the date purchased. I cannot be fairer than that.*
  • Size (L x W x H): 121cm x 49cm x 9cm
  • Weight of carrier: approx. 9kg
  • Price excludes VAT (calculated on check-out)

Easy to use and full instruction manual provided with each carrier.

The two person hive carrier is designed to carry the weight from the bottom - the way a hive is meant to be supported. Some carriers on the market carry the hive with sideways pressure. I wasn't keen on that as not all my hives are new and wood tends to rot over time - the possibility of the hive failing or breaking with side pressure is not something you want to happen when its full of bees or honey!

The hive is placed in the centre, strapped down and lifted by two persons. When it is lifted, the strapped down hive and steel lip of the carrier keeps it firmly in place whilst being moved.

As a commercial bee farmer moving hives and supers can be a weekly job - and as you all know they are far from being lightweight! The HSE guidelines state that a singe man should not lift more than 25kg and a woman 16kg. A Single hive will weigh far more than this and if it’s a double brood will drastically exceed this. Realistically a hive should not be lifted by one person. And if you are employing staff its your responsibility to look after them. Talk to any old beekeeper and he will tell you that beekeepers back is no joke. Your body is your most valuable possession…you need to look after it.
